The Star Trek Tridimensional Chess Set is going where no Star Trek merch has gone before — augmented reality!
Paramount Consumer Products and Web3 company droppLabs teamed up to bring a virtual version of the multi-level chess set (as seen in Star Trek: The Original Series) into your home, so that you can check it out before you decide to buy it. This experience is the first launch in a larger partnership between Paramount Consumer Products and droppLabs to bring e-commerce to the entertainment industry.
To get the full experience, scan the QR code on the Tridimensional Chess Set's product page with your phone. After your phone scans your surroundings, the box will appear on the screen and open up before your eyes! At the bottom of the screen will be an add to cart button that will bring you back to shop.startrek.com to buy the set!
Made by The Noble Collection, the physical chess set is a replica of the prop that has been a part of Star Trek since the beginning. The set is 13 inches tall and comes with 32 die-cast pieces. It also includes translucent acrylic game boards and instructions on how to play.
Tridimensional Chess may be one of Kirk and Spock's favorite pastimes, but now, it can be yours too, both on-screen and off!
