Asda and Sainsbury’s remove Elf Bar’s Lost Mary vapes from shelves

Two leading supermarkets have removed popular vaping products from shelves amid serious health concerns.

Sainsbury's and Asda have banned the Double Apple flavour Lost Mary vape and watermelon-flavoured Elf Bar 600, according to the Mirror.

Double Apple flavour Lost Mary vape has been taken off shelves after tested samples found that there was an average of 3.6ml of nicotine liquid.

An investigation also found that the watermelon-flavoured Elf Bar 600 had at least 50% over the legal limit for nicotine e-liquid.

UK law states that the amount of nicotine liquid in a vape is limited legally to 2ml with a maximum strength of nicotine at 2%.

In a previous statement from Elf Bar, they said: "We found out that some batches of the Elf Bar product have been overfilled in the UK.

"It appears that e-liquid tank sizes, which are standard in other markets [such as the US], have been inadvertently fitted to some of our UK products.

"We wholeheartedly apologise for the inconvenience this has caused."

Adding that they would be alerting retailers as they review the production process.

It's not the first time that concerns have been raised over vaping products and the impact they could have on health.

England's chief medical officer Sir Chris Whitty recently stated that there should be a clampdown on the "appalling" marketing of vapes aimed at young people.
